For April 2009, I’m sending out the Arturo Fuente, Chateau Fuente, King B. The King B has been around for a few years, is a close cousin to the Chateau Fuente, Cuban Belicoso and is overall a cigar I enjoy. Some folks agree and like it, while others aren’t as impressed. Overall, I think it is worth trying and most folks will enjoy it. Either way, I look forward to hearing the comments as the cigar makes the rounds. I’ll post a more detailed review over the next few days.

For May, I selected the Bolivar Corona Extra. This is a great cigar and much thanks to David for his help in making this month’s selection.

I had the pleasure of handing off Tim’s cigars in person when we met up for Memorial day. We tried to solve the world’s problems over a glass of scotch and a couple of these cigars. I don’t know that we made much progress on world issues, but the cigars and scotch were good. I hope everyone else enjoys them as well.

I’m not good at identifying flavors or profiles in a cigar (or wine for that matter) but this cigar had a rich wood flavor to me and a chocolate like finish. I’ve stored one away and will try it again in a year. I suspect that the flavor will smooth out a bit over the next few months. If you’ve got the patience, I’d encourage you to do the same: smoke one now, save the other one for a rainy day.

Well, after a yearlong hiatus. The Monthly Cigar site is back and redesigned. The old site was just to damned complicated and every month I forgot how to update in between each month. The new site is a simple wordpress blog. I can add retailer and other cigar site links as well as do a quick and dirty update on each month’s selection.

Hopefully, this site will be more useful to us all then the last.
